Thing is, I liked him a hell of a lot better the first time I saw him...back in 1986:

Yeah, see this guy in the image to the left? For you younglings, his name is Eddie, and he's the mascot for the heavy metal group Iron Maiden. Yeah....and that image? From 1986, you know, over TWENTY years ago?
So..checklist for both!
1. Brown Eddie-style fedora? Check.
2. Brown Eddie-style coat? Check
3. Gaunt face? Check!
4. Cybernetics? Check!
So...just to clarify...someone with George's cash backing them can't do any better than to come up with a rip-off of a heavy metal icon that showed up over two decades ago?
How proud. Nice "character design" guys! Really earning that paycheck from Lucasfilm, huh? What are we going to see next? Four bounty hunters dressed up in black leather and spikes with white and black make-up and themes like "Starchild", "The Demon" "Cat Man" and "Space Ace"?
I really look forward to it. Nice work.
And yeah, I know people are going to throw Eastwoods name into the mix, but the only thing robotic about Clint's "Man With No Name" was his acting (which I liked).
Mah. This is why I create my own Star Wars universe and leave the crap to Hollywood.
Oh, and for the record? Eddie would eat Cad's lunch and send him home crying to mama. Count on it sideways Fanboys.

Maybe this is a hat tip or nod to eddie? but could not get permission to make him do a cameo? so they went with something that the older fans could put together and say hey cool? ,,,,,or maybe they are hacks and are tapped for ideas
Hmmmmm...let's go with the last one!
:-)
Well, all I gotta say is if folks want new and original looking bounty hunters they can always come to our website. And it's for free to boot!
Or maybe Bane is just a western archetype with a hat and duster, and has the cybernetics that a lot of Star Wars style bounty hunters have.
Apparently the character is based on Jango Fett and Lee Van Cleef from "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly". Maybe "Eddie" and Iron Maiden don't have quite the influence you credit them for.
That could be true, but even so, Jango Fett looks nothing like Cad Bane (nor is he even the same species), and Jango doesn't have cybernetics.
And last time I checked, neither does Lee Van Cleef.
So while some can claim Cad is based off of those two characters, the look of the character is still way too similar to Eddie for me to write it off as mere coincidence.
But that's just my opinion of course.

Gun Caine, better known as 'Caine The Longshot', also has a costume that closely resembles that of Cad Bane. Just do a Google search and you will see the resemblance... the wide-brim hat, face mask and partial cybernetics.
To me, Cad Bane seems to be an amalgamation of characters but certainly was heavily influenced by images such as those of Iron Maiden's 'Eddie' and Dark Horse Comic's anime character 'Gung-Ho Gun Caine'.
Hmmmm, milk and cookies keeping you awake Sebastian? Let's discuss this....
Either way all these bitches need some damn Clearasil!
DADDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
a while ago George said that he actually had the idea for Cad Bane back when he made the original Star Wars just he could not use him at the time. Also Cad is supposed to be more based off of Jango Fett and Indiana Jones. Also remember that just because a character is of a different species or has features the person he is based on doesn't have does not mean he is not based off that character.
if this case is actually true then Cad and Eddie's similarities could just be a coincidence.
