The "Golden Age" Begins!

Happy Labor Day!
And for the record, you have no idea how much work and effort went into this latest update, but I would like to think it was well worth the wait. This ti9me around we have the first Book in Episode 10. This sees the introduction of Ubese bounty hunter Koort Ter’chon and kicks off what the players referred to as the “Golden Age” of Raptor Squad: the period of time where the team really came together and hit its stride. I’m very proud of this latest fiction and hope you enjoy reading it. It’s a bit long (almost 150 pages!) but I think it’s good quality stuff and a good “jumping on” point for new readers who may have been apprehensive about trying some of our fiction out given the team has so much history.
But! There’s more! As always you can enjoy the quality artwork done by myself and Elfgirl, as well as new profiles, ships and others goodies sprinkled throughout the site! So! Enough of my yammering! Dive in, check it out and as always we love to hear from you!

Feel free to head over to and check us out!!!

HA!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear you are enjoying it Mike! I'd love to hear what you guys think when you are done reading it....I highly value your feedback since, well, the charactewrs are derived from the ones you guys played around the table and it takes some work to get the "voice" right, in wirting terms that is.

I'm guessing I'll be rolling the next one out in October and the final Episode maybe at the end of the year- Book 3 is over half done now and I'm literally writing it as I type this (well, not at the same time you understand...but you get the idea)

ok so I’ve been done with the new fiction for 3 days now and have been mulling over the intricacies of the story the Craftsman B has rolled out here, and all I can say for now is ,,, is it October yet????

B you are doing a stellar job highlighting the inner turmoil that Klux faced, along with covering some of my med induced blasé RPG’ing, you’ve taken what we all saw going on with Baal and put it to words that rivals some of the great nationally published authors I’ve read that are producing Star Wars novels. (Not that stupid Vong shit)

There are so many vantage points revealing themselves of the separate room; one on one stuff the rest of us didn’t get to see. After getting done with this part of the fiction I almost feel sorry for all those poor saps in the rest of the world who never got to sit in on a raptor squad game. They truly missed some gaming. And fortunately for them you are here to chronicle it all out.

Standing ovation for this latest installment of Raptor Squad

Woah!

Thanks Mike!

I appreciate this kind of feedback- it lets me know what I’m doing well and what you guys like to see. I’ll be honest, its not easy piecing together a cohesive story out of my game notes and hazy memory. Truth is, when you are running a game, you kind throw a lot of stuff in just to fill the space and cause drama- but that’s doesn’t really translate well into the fiction when you have to explain the drama and motives behind the characters.

The fact that the GM runs all of these NPC’s who all have different agendas and motivations (most of which we never knew about or saw) that I now have to justify and internalize from their point of view makes it hard, but I also think it’s fun and a challenge to create these motivations and see how it drives the characters to do what they do…it’s kinda like a jigsaw puzzle…you have to not only come up with something that makes sense, but is interesting and more importantly FITS in the framework of the story. So, a challenge, but a hell of a lot of fun.

I also like throwing in new characters that never showed up around the table- I think it gives me a lot of freedom and also makes it new and interesting for you guys-so it’s not like just re-reading some gamelogs or something, its like practically reading all new adventures.

And yeah, Baal is becoming real fun to write…he always flirted with the darkside…and now you are seeing it.

And Klux…well October is getting close and trust me…Klux gets some major face time in October.

Again, thanks a ton for the feedback! Its feedback like this from you guys that keeps me writing and creating. So as long as you keep digging it and letting me know, I’ll keep writing!

If anyone else out there has read the fiction and would like to comment, please speak up! I’d love to hear your thoughts!

This episode of the fiction (all 3 books of it) took place around the table just before I joined the group, so I wasn't there first hand, but Bob and I had just started dating about this time and he would tell me about it. It was a pretty dynamic time for the group and really made me interested in joining.

Bob truly has a gift for writing. Lots of drama, fun character interactions, action.... He's really good at distilling the spirits of characters and capturing their essences. No mean feat when you consider all the crazy stuff the went on around the table. The characters come alive, none are two-dimensional. And it's really fun to see the different characters' points of view. To see their take on a situation.

I can't wait to read Book 2!

Well, I have finally finished reading the fiction, and I must admit, I'm speechless. This was truly an amazing read. Mike and I were talking about it the other day, and we started reliving a lot of memories from around the table.

I loved the action... I could picture what was happening as I was reading it. I also loved the comedy... especially with what happened with Tuumb ("I said it was unlikely, not impossible.) LOL! Classic!

I also liked how certain things happened in this fiction that will lead to certain things later on down the road. Having been a player around the table, I know what will happen, but it is just so cool to see it foreshadowed with this fiction. Truly amazing.

I will go ahead and be bias by saying that I cannot wait until Book Two in October because Xander is introduced. I've been waiting so long to finally him introduced.

BRING ON OCTOBER!!!

LOL!

Thanks man!

And hey, there is no reason to be bias...I totally understand!

You have waited a long time for Xan to be introduced...Tracy feels the same way about Khara (whos next up on the block!)...it's only been like, five or six YEARS since I've been writing this fiction and I'm finally getting around to getting you guys introduced! I'm a slacker..I know.

But I hope the wait is worth it...to be honest, I think it was best it worked out this way..I feel like Im finally hitting my stride as a writer and you guys get to (hopefully) reap the benefits! So when your characters do get introduced, its a more rich full enjoyable story than it would have been say, three or four years ago.
Of course Im going back and writing Episodes 1-3 concurrently, so you'll get to see the full treatment for the old fogies as well.

Im having a blast and Im thrilled you guys are digging the fiction, and I think its great its reminding you of the game and the fun everyone used to have- those were special times and I'm happy to help you relive them now.

October here we come!
